FALL SPORTS REGISTRATION

FALL SPORTS REGISTRATIONFallSportHead

Hello!

Thank you for your patience and I am happy to announce the Fall Schedule for Special Olympics is here!
Attached is the schedule and directions for completing registration online through WebTrac. This is a NEW system and you will no longer register through the Special Olympics website.
We know there are still a lot of holes with days/times/locations of some practices. These will be filled as soon as possible and you will be notified once the schedule is updated.
We thank you in advance for your patience as we move to this new online system. It will make getting information to our coaches much more efficient.
Also- Special Olympics has launched a new athlete medical form. It will print out with your registration and it is also attached. It is a 6 page form and you will need a DR’s signature every time. If your medical is current, you will only need to fill out the new form once you expire. If you are a new athlete, please fill out the new form.
If you have any sport specific questions, please call me at 703-777-0438
If you have any questions about registration or WebTrac, please call our front desk at: 703-777-0343 and one of our customer service representatives can assist you.

Call for Special Olympics Head Coaches

Call for Special Olympics Head CoachesSOVA-volunteers
Hello wonderful volunteers!
Our Special Olympics program in Loudoun County is growing and with all that growth has come a need for more programs and volunteers.
We are currently working on our fall schedule which will run September through November and we are in need of committed, adult volunteers to fill the following:
  • Soccer Head Coach
  • Bocce Head Coaches (2)
  • Volleyball Head Coach
What does coaching entail you ask?
  • It is a minimum 8 week commitment for practices (teams practice once or twice a week on evenings or weekends) in which you would be responsible for running/leading practices.
  • State Championships are November 7 & 8, which you would be strongly encouraged to attend as head coach with your team. This is in Virginia Beach, VA and all expenses are covered.
  • You would be given a training prior to starting to review all administrative needs (we try and keep this to a minimum), an overview of working with our athletes and all the tools you will need to be successful
  • And most importantly, our coaches need to be energetic and willing to join our athletes and other volunteers in this amazing community!

If you think you have the time/skills to take on one of these roles, please feel free to e-mail/call me so we can discuss more details.
If you are interested in volunteering but not necessarily becoming a coach, I will be sending out information hopefully by the end of the month.
Thank you so much and we look forward to hearing from you!

Here is a link to this amazing video in full to share.  Karen received a silver medal on Sunday in the ½ marathon with a finishing time of 00:44:53.42.

Luke Ferris, Special Olympics Virginia-Area 26 athlete will be competing in the 1500 open water swim, 800M Free, and 4 x 50 Free relay. Luke’s  preliminary swim for his open water swim event was yesterday.  The Patch ran a great article about Luke last week as well.
